Compact, lightweight carrier provides an excellent combination of reloading speed, secure carry and dependability. Cartridges are held securely until you’re ready, then release with just a twist of the knurled knob. Simple to load: turn the knob to the load position; set rounds in place; twist the knob to latch. Metal cam points move into place over the cartridge rims. To load the gun: guide the bullet noses into the cylinder, twist the knob and ammo instantly drops into place.

My favorite speedloader (2009-12-18)

I've tried quite a few speedloaders, and I actually prefer these over others. They may be a touch slower than the push button types, but I've found these to be more robust and a lot easier to fill with bullets. As far as the speed of the reload goes, I developed a technique where I "overturn" the knob and use the momentum to toss the empty reloader aside while closing the cylinder all in one motion. Gotta find on the ground afterwards, but it's fast!

Update (2013-01-10)

Three years down the line, I still like these reloaders enough to continue giving them five stars. But... I have to admit that my allegiance has shifted over to the Safariland model. Yes, the Safariland's are more difficult to load with bullets, but the release is better when the shooting is. Regardless, the HKS is still a great product and I wouldn't work too hard to talk somebody out of buying one. Plus, I bought my first HKS nearly 20 years ago and it is still working as well as the day it was new; I haven't had my Safarilands for nearly as long so I can't attest to their durability, but I suspect that in the (very) long run these HKS' will last longer and possibly be more reliable in rough environments due to the fact that they're built like tanks.

Works perfectly (2010-01-01)

The HKS PY-A speedloader work excellent for the Colt Python. These speedloaders are easier to fill then the Safariland and load the cylinder almost as fast. The HKS has the edge in long term durability. The Safariland Comp II is still a better choice for competition.

HKS 36-A bad for 442 (2009-11-11)

I tried these for my S&W 442 and they have yet to make a flawless drop into the cylinder. They jam against all the grips I've tried and I would never trust these in any situation outside of trivial range time. Seems like a quality product, they're just poorly suited to my snubbie. I rely on the rudimentary Bianchi Speed Strips.

will fit Ruger LCR w/ laser grips (2010-01-17)

bought one for my Ruger LCR w/laser grips. the loader fits and the ammo will drop in. now that i know it works i will order a few more.

Sturdy, always work well (2010-11-12)

I carry a model 36 off-duty. It is resilient and hardy. The HKS speedloaders I carry in my pocktets match the reliability of the Chief's Special 36. It fits the cylinder perfectly, which is not surprising as the HKS model is 36-A. Not as easy for my SP-101. For self-defense, I prefer HKS. As someone wrote for another model here on Brownell's, Safariland's are great and fast for competition, but HKS is better for daily carry.

Perfect accesory for any revolver (2011-06-20)

Keep an extra charge of rounds around for your six-shooter. I've learned anything with HKS on it is good stuff! Unlike a loose loaded magazine for an auto, these are not considered as a loaded handgun in a car. Example: as of writing this, inside the city limits of Denver, without a concealed carry permit, one cannot lawfully carry an auto-feed handgun in a vehicle with a loaded magazine, whether or not it is inserted. Apparently, this does not apply to a revolver & speed loader.

10-A Speedloader (2012-08-30)

I've got a 1964 .38 military/police revolver. The reloader works great as is. If you sand down the left grip a little it works excellent. Getting ready to order another.

Good for 38 (2015-02-06)

Works really well with my s&w 19-5 snub, with 38 spl, less with the 357... and I don't have a large grip!
