The Exact Edge Extractor is manufactured through an EDM process to produce exacting tolerances. The new extractor will not lose its edge under impact. The extractor features a very precise hook point. It is hardened to a RC 58-60 to withstand years of use and still maintain its edge. We are able to hold the tolerances to +/-.0001" by utilizing the EDM manufacturing process. Replaces Remington part #16176 and fits 870, 12, 20 and 1100, 12, 20.

Very nice, precision-made item (2016-07-29)

The Volquartsen Exact-Edge is a super replacement part. The fit is precise enough and the installation went fairly easy outside of the part where the locking pin and spring flew across the room.... despite my efforts to prevent that. Anyway, having recovered my truant parts, it went back together with no fuss. Full disclosure.... I haven't been to the range with it yet, but so far the function has been flawless. Much. much better than the chipped, worn extractor it replaced. In fact, I decided to replace the original, Remington MiM extractor on another 870P I'm customizing, with an Exact-Edge too.

Replaced original (2017-01-19)

I bought this to replace the original extractor on my 870 express made in 1988. The original was rounded off and didn't extract reliably. I replaced spring at same time. Install was easy, no modifications needed. Simple, quick, easy push in replacement.

Better than the original (2017-12-04)

Replaced the old original extractor and spring that was well worn and rounded. Was a fast and simple job. Havenât had a problem with the new one.

Amazing! (2017-12-19)

This product is amazing. it was shocking how poor the quality of the factory extractor was compared to this piece. Very easy to install, i did it without removing the bolt. Works perfectly. For a cheap, quality piece of mind upgrade, this thing is perfect.

For More Positive Extractions (2017-12-25)

I used this product to replace my factory MIM extractor that came from the factory on my Express model. I had noticed that on certain brands of cheap ammo, the extractor once and a rare while missed the edge of the shell and continue rearward, leaving the shell partially extracted. Unloading a gun and taking the barrel off on the range to fix a jam is a headache, and embarrassing, to say the least.

I decided to go with this product instead of the Remington because of the stellar reviews. For a few buck more, why not?

Install is ridiculously simple, especially if you have a smaller flat head screwdriver. By depressing the plunger, you can swap out extractors in seconds. The replacement seems longer to me than the MIM part, and the hook is definitely sharper and more pronounced. Plus, it fit the gun seamlessly, so no polishing was necessary.

After installing this and polishing the chamber, extraction is much more positive. The new extractor seems to latch onto the shell more firmly, even with the cheapest birdshot ammunition. About 200 rounds later, the problem seems permanently fixed.

Quality Product; Fixes Common Issues (2018-01-07)

I bought an 18.5" Remington 870 Tactical a week ago and I started dry cycling it and noticed that the factory extractor's blunt nose started hitting the bottom of the ramp it's meant to slide up into in the barrel's perimeter. The issue was that the extractor was meeting the ramp at too low a position. It started making a notch at the base of the ramp. Not too happy about that. It's a brand new shotgun which I have yet to fire. I'm under the impression that any gun should be able to dry cycle many times without killing itself.

I was very happy to see that there was a quality alternative extractor, and the "exact edge" design is just what I needed, as it eliminates the dull face that the other one had and so it just slides right up the ramp when the bolt meets the barrel.

It's possible that the factory extractor would have done the job if I had rounds to cycle, as it may have pushed the extractor up a tad so it hit the ramp at the right spot, but I didn't like that the gun had a weakness even when dry cycling. I've also heard of the issue of rounds not being extracted properly, and that this does the job for that as well, so win-win. Sucks I had to fix a brand new gun, but I guess it's a lot like when software is released and they have day 1 patches.

This is a must-have for reliability-sake.

Great upgrade (2018-05-17)

Super easy to replace the original extractor with this upgrade. Made much better than the factory 870 extractor and reliable. I have had several thousand rounds through my 870 express supermag with this new extractor and it has preformed flawlessly.

Köpte den här för att min vanliga extractor bara försvann när ja va ute o sköt några 12/89:or på skjutbanan. Så ja köpte den här och den från remington oxå, men ja köpte den här för ja gillar Volquartsens kvalitet på sina grejer. Och ja jämförde dom både sen och det är en hel del skillnad på dom Volquartsen ser lite mer skarpare ut så det får bli den i bössan nu så ja får se hur mkt stryk den kan ta med lite 89:or o några magnum skott. Ja kanske sköt ca 2000-3500 skott med min Remington 870 SM innan extractorn kom av från bössan. Mitt råd köp den här
